1. Batman Incorporated #1
Okay so if you are a listener of the podcast, you may have listened to our “DC’s New 52 Review” after the first month of a wave of fresh and amazing titles were unleashed onto our faces and eyes.  With it brought the AFBoys back into the game.  You also saw/heard how salty I was because I was a huge huge fan of Morrison’s Batman and Robin run (starring ick and Damian).  Well, thank the heavens because this issue makes it feel like its BACK.  Yeah Bruce is Batman in this book but the great great Batman and Damian dynamic is back and is being written the correct way.  Damian is being written the correct way and it feels like a breath of fresh air.  This issue was hilarious.  I lived off of the Damian moments in the old 52′s Batman and Robin and just wasn’t getting it from the new 52′s Batman and Robin.  This issue was full of those moments.  The art by Chris Burnham was like a poor man’s Frank Quitely but still way better than a lot of stuff coming out right now.  A Boxster may be a poor man’s Porsche but its still a Porsche.  Thank you DC for bringing back the REAL dynamic duo (aka Batman and Damian written by Grant Morrison).
2. Aquaman #9
Wow. Â So let’s see. Â The first issue was pretty good, then it kind of dipped at the end of the first arc, then dipped even deeper in the Mera one-shot, and then it rose a little bit at the beginning of this arc, rose a little bit more in issue 8 and BAM this issue comes out and its a complete game-changer for the character. Â To be fair, even when the issues weren’t good, the art by Ivan Reis is fantastic. Â And it comes out ON TIME. Â Ivan Reis is clearly one of the top guys DC has with a pencil right now and just due to the fact that he has incredible work ethic and gets the book out on time is enough for me to spend $2.99 on this book every month. Â But a lot of credit goes to Johns. Â I’ve been calling this dude a wash since the New 52 started but goddamn 2 weeks and he has impressed me a lot with this issue and Justice League #9. Â I’m really looking forward to his work now. Â Just PLEASE DC put this guy back on the FLASH.
3. All Star Western #9
Kind of the same with Aquaman: started off well, took a few dips, but this book has been consistently solid throughout the last 9 months. Â It has been GOOD. Which I am fine with and keeps me buying this book every month. Â This last arc with Nighthawk and Cinnamon has been pretty damn good though. Â I’m actually a fan of this title. Â Its just not awesome enough to pop me a chub on people about but its not bad enough for me to drop. Â But this is all about to change. Â Steve and I have been praying for this moment since this damn book started last year. Â We have been praying for the motherfucking BAT LASH. Â AND BAT “THUG LIFE” LASH is going to be in the next fucking issue. Â I. Â Can’t. Â Wait. Â Period.
Watch out for Devon’s picks next week. Â And maybe Steve-O the week after that if you guys are lucky. Â But if you’re unlucky, it’ll be me again.
